History
A long time ago, the farm would churn milk to butter. As an entrepreneurial farmer Klaas Snijder established a private, collective dairy factory. In 1896, he started a butter factory in Dorpsstraat 23.
An old poem once said:
“Zeldenrust”, gaf
hi’j `t de name
want o, hi’j hat zo grieselug drok!”
Preacher Niemeyer, which opposed the reformed church, wanted to build a
modern
church building in Uffelte. Subsequently, it was built. In 1911, the
first
church service was held in the new church on Schoolstraat.
The church services in Evangelism chamber did not gather a lot people
and the
building was almost empty. The Uffelter youth directed acts of
vandalism to the
building and many windows were broken. According to a report in May
1912, there
were a total of 149 broken windows: 10 white- and 139 colored windows.
Up until 1921, the Evangelism chamber still existed. Hereinafter, the
lot with
the house was owned by a farming family from Uffelte. Since then,
several
families lived there.
